Too Good to Be True!

How many times in life do we come across deals or opportunities that appear to be such an amazing blessing just to find out later it wasn’t what it appeared to be.
I think about the many cars I’ve encountered as I was looking for a good used car. I find one in the classifieds or on-line that has a tremendous price, low mileage, and is in such good shape. I travel to the location where this car is and find out that it’s not nearly as nice as it looks in the pictures; it smells bad; has scratches and dents that don’t appear in the pictures; and finally has a rebuilt title that made the value decrease well below other cars with a clean title.
I think about the many times when our children were younger that we wanted to go to Orlando for an economical vacation and responded to the time-share deals where you are required to go through a “quick” presentation about the time-share properties. In return you get some free tickets to one of the attractions and a discounted hotel rate. The “90 minute” presentation takes 3 hours and you leave only after a high-pressure sales pitch feeling like you’ve let some unfortunate salesman down for not buying.
Before you know it, a cynical outlook on life begins to prevail in many areas of our lives when we start to believe that if it looks too good to be true, than it most certainly will lead to a disappointing and discouraging end.
Thank God for the truth we find in Ephesians 3:20 which says, Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us.
It may be true that in this world there are many things which are “too good to be true”, in the Kingdom of God we realize that there is a remarkably different reality. God is better than we can imagine! He’s more loving than we can conceive of! And, He’s more powerful than we can dream of!
Over the past several weeks, we have seen such an increase in the evidence of the supernatural power of God as we have stretched ourselves and our own understanding, believing for the naturally impossible to become supernaturally possible.
I received a call this past Saturday from our main leader in the Peruvian jungle telling us that his infant daughter had been rushed to the small, primitive hospital in their little town with a severe fever and excessive vomiting and listlessness. He told me that many times he felt that his daughter was taking her last breaths as they fought for her life.
The medicines they gave her were repeatedly thrown up and they were having great difficulty inserting an I.V. in her tiny veins. After many attempts resulted in blown out veins, they attempted one last time and finally inserted the I.V. Still she only partially responded to the medicines and her fever was still dangerously high for another day.
The next day he called me stating that he was needing to make a decision soon about moving her to the nearest city about 3 hours away since that is where the nearest pediatrician was that could treat her. He said we needed to pray for a miracle. Tears flowed easily as he lived through these desperate moments!
Soon after that call, continuing in prayer, suddenly her fever dropped dramatically and she was released from the hospital a few days later. Another victory was attained through God’s intervention!
Last Sunday, I was privileged to preach in our local church. Many people responded to an altar call with the purpose of coming into a new relationship with God, understanding how much He loves each and every one of us with immeasurable and unconditional love! After receiving a powerful touch from God, it became apparent that many people were healed of painful conditions in their bodies even though we didn’t even pray for healing! Spiritual healing always leads to physical healing if we will be open for it!
On this Tuesday night at our regular Gathering meeting, God had a special surprise for us! We decided to share testimonies of God moving in our lives and in the lives of others in miraculous ways. Quickly we began to celebrate how wonderful He is and the wonderful things that He does every day.
After the worship time, Kerry felt God wanted to heal someone of an ear condition and a neck/head ache. We gave the word and several people responded. Out of a group of no more than about 30 people, 10 people came forward for healing of various conditions. Without exaggeration, every one of them received a complete healing or the few that didn’t have a complete healing, had such a significant improvement that they were completely satisfied with the results.
From this we come to know that, with God, it’s never “too good to be true”! He’s always better than we think; He loves us more than we can imagine; and there’s absolutely nothing impossible for Him to do!
